The two storey residence, Braemar, at 178 George Street was erected in 1865 by Corben and Wilson for William Bowen, a noted Collins Street chemist. The architect was Leonard Terry. The house was later occupied by Jenkins Collier, a financier and director of the City of Melbourne Bank. He went bankrupt in the boom period. The rendered brick structure has a single storey verandah and rendered brick entrance porch.
